Scholarships
The Southern Nevada Symphony Orchestra (SNSO) is a non-profit organization composed of local musicians with a wide background of musical abilities. SNSO offers college scholarships to music students who are graduates of an accredited institution in Mesquite or Moapa Valley. Scholarship Awards are in the amount of $1000, and the recipients are decided by the SNSO Board of Directors. Award recipients will be notified in the spring. The deadline to apply for the 2025-2026 academic year is:
March 14, 2026.

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must,

Be a high school graduate (or prospective graduate) of an accredited institution in Mesquite or Moapa Valley, in the current year of application.

Be accepted to, or enrolled in, a post-secondary accredited institution with a major or minor in music.

Have a GPA of at least a 2.0.

Previous recipients may reapply.
Evaluation Criteria:

Completed Scholarship Application.

Two letters of recommendation. (One must be from a music educator.)

A 500-word essay on one of the following topics:

What music means to me.
-
How music has changed my life.
-
What role music will play in my future.
-

A current transcript.
-
Proof of acceptance or enrollment into an accredited institution.
